How to Clean Aluminum Siding

There are plenty of pressure washing diy projects we recommend homeowners trying on their own. Cleaning aluminum siding is no different BUT we strongly advise to read some blogs and tips before tackling this project.

1. Pre-rinse Area

First off, it is worth mentioning that there are multiple methods of cleaning aluminum siding. In this post we will speak to hand washing aluminum siding. As is with most cleaning and pressure washing projects, you should pre-rinse the areas you are about to clean as well as the surrounding area in case any cleaning agents end up where they’re not supposed to.

This can be accomplished with a garden hose or a pressure washer. Just be careful to not spray upward as water can make it’s way behind the siding.

2. Hand Wash Siding – Dirt

Using a soft tip brush on a long handle and a bucket of warm water, dish soap and an all-purpose cleaner, scrub the aluminum siding in sections from top down.

Be sure to rinse the dirt and grime as well as the soap from the areas periodically.

3. Hand Wash Siding – Mildew

Using a soft tip brush on a long handle and a bucket of warm water, dish soap and bleach, scrub the aluminum siding in sections from top down.

Be sure to rinse the dirt and grime as well as the soap and bleach from the areas periodically.

Our Pressure Washing Equipment
Our trailer contains a hot pressure washing machine, a cold pressure washing machine and a 500 gallon water tank for those of you that do not have access to water. If you choose to hire a pressure washing contractor they should have a similar looking tank and machine. If they do not you may have not hired the right contractor.

The most important aspect and what makes our pressure washer different from those that are generally rented at a hardware store is the water temperature. Most commercial grade pressure washing machines have the ability to heat water up to 250 degrees to remove those tough stains that may require heat to dissolve like oil spills.
