Regardless of the size and type of awning you have the pressure washing process remains the same. First, we have to determine which type of material your awning is made of so we can figure out the appropriate cleaning agent to use to help break down the dirt and grim. Then we pre-rinse the awning and any areas surrounding it. Second, we apply the appropriate cleaning agent to the necessary areas. For canvass a simple soap and bleach combination will generally work well. For aluminum a metal cleaning agent with brightener works better. Third, you may need to brush any bad areas with a soft bristle scrub brush. Fourth, rinse and repeat if needed.

Things to Keep in Mind

Do not forget to clean the underside of the awning. Yes, most people driving or walking by will only be able to see the top and sides of your awning but in addition to being a general eyes sore if gone unclean the underside of the awning is home to cob webs, old bird nests and bee hives. While it is not always recommended you may want to consider using a sealer, waterproofing agent or re-vinylizer on awnings that are not aluminum. Do not forget to rinse all surrounding areas.
