Types of Tennis Courts

A standard tennis court measures 60ft wide by 120ft long so this is no easy project if the entire court needs cleaning. Determine before pressure washing a tennis court if you are dealing with concrete, asphalt, clay or grass court. While we typically deal with asphalt tennis courts you may be dealing with synthetic clay, synthetic grass, rubberized cushion, carpet or an acrylic. If you do decide to tackle this project yourself you want to start by removing all furniture and then using a leaf blower to remove any leafs, dirt and debris.

Tips for Cleaning Tennis Courts

• make sure all windows are shut and all doors are closed
• if possible turn off the power to all electrical fixtures including lights and fixtures
• remove everything that can be damaged by a cleaning agent including furniture
• cover all plants, shrubs and flowers

Process of Power Washing a Tennis Court

When pressure washing a tennis court you want to start from one end and work your way to the other as to not have to rinse or clean the same areas multiple times. Mix your cleaning agents in 5 gallon bucket and apply to the area until the cleaning agent runs out. After several minutes you want to hand brush any bad areas before using a water broom or a wheel-mounted flatwork machine. Be sure to hit all areas of the court including the areas outside the playing lines and around the court perimeters. Then, simply rinse the area clean and begin on the next area.

Maintaining a Tennis Court between Pressure Washes

While it may seem like common sense removing any trash, leafs and general debris can go a long way in maintaining your tennis court. The perimeter areas should be watched closely as well because dirt and debris can easily be tracked on to playing surfaces. Take a hose and squeegee a couple times of year to remove any top layers of dirt.
